He ran his 42,195 km at an average speed of 20,48 km/h !!!
Please, do not try this at home! Nevertheless I don't think, Makau will win in Tilburg.
Greetings Lander

Running is the easiest way to train your heart and lungs. Today Willem, Stan and me started the training in the rain. On the menu 40' progressive run after a warming up and followed by a long cooling down. The first 20' of our workout the pace was fairly comfortable but the following 20' Willem and me started to tighten the screws.
This week it's the goal to run more kilometers and one heavy workout on the track. The ten miles In Tilburg will give an honest impression of my current shape. Let's train! Greetings Lander For the marathoners the time has come to focus on training. For me this means: a little bit less social activities and more training runs in the evening. Two tests have showed that I am behind on my schedule to run a fast time in Eindhoven. But overall it was a great training week with a 3 solid workouts. To tell you the truth my speed is okay but my endurance is not so good but we are working on it. Good luck with your preparations. Greetings Lander
I think they can! The athletes are always way to gentle for the elite coördinators and selectors while they sometimes exhibit an ignorance that is unequaled.
Athletes are selected and judged on results, so far no problem for me, but it's getting time that the responsibles for the supporting structures and the selection procedures should be judged on their results too. Link to the vision of the BOIC: click here. Does the board collectively resign after not reaching their own targets? This would be strong signal (tabula rasa). They should know: "It's rarely possible to solve a problem by using the same kind of thinking that was used when it was created". (Quote mr. A.Einstein) Besides that I am really curious to view the financial report of the BOIC. How many non-athletes or non-trainers joined the Olympic team for "support"? It's perfectly possible to do an assessment and a benchmark with other countries. Normally I only use this blog for airy stories but this is really necessary. So let's see what the future brings! Greetings Lander Stephen Kiprotich (UGANDA) takes home the gold! (Left on the picture) Now it's time for the Olympic mountainbike race afterwards I go out for a training. Lander
One of the most important parts in a marathon preparation is to start the training cycle healthy. Fortunately for me this is the case. My body is 100% free from injury, I am only a bit out of shape. But I came from far and the last month my fitness level improved week after week nevertheless I will need a lot of training to be ready for the clash in Eindhoven.
This week there were three workouts on the menu: a hill training, a track training and a tempo run. The tempo run of 4 times 10' was replaced by 12 km in Lokeren because Vital and Willem (my favorite training partners) were not able to join me on the training. In Lokeren I enjoyed the atmosphere and the company of running colleagues. Together with a decade of young talented athletes we ran an honest pace from the start till finish. At the end Stefan Van Den Broek was too strong for me but the desired effort was in the pocket. The best athlete won the 12 km in Lokeren. Afterwards a good cooling down with Stefan and a great end of the evening with the Olympic 10000m. Mo Farah and Galen Rupp ran outstanding! WOOOOOW! Mzungu's are able to beat the Kenyans and the Ethiopians. I did not think this was possible. The young Canadian Cameron Levins is clearly a guy for the future, remember this name! Now it's allmost time for the Olympic women marathon. Hilda Kibet (NED) is my personal favorite. Greetings Lander 5 Great athletes in action: Dame Tasama, Almensh Belete, Mo Farah, Dathan Ritzenheim and Galen Rupp |
