The times of our four times 3000 metres on the track:
I am really happy, this is my best marathon specific training so far! Click on the photo for the link to the science of sport website. This is definitely one of my favorite websites ! Greetings Lander
WOW ! Now it's time to go out of the door and run, two weeks to go for Eindhoven marathon. Everything is going great with the exception of another crash in training on a little grind road at 18 km/h, I am definitely clumsy. Result my left flank (knee, hip and arm) is battered. My body is covered with scars due to my wild teenage years filled with action sports so this crash is not a big problem. The majority of our traininggroup is running in France this weekend (road race Paris-Versailles). Next week I will try to train a lot with Vital in order to get both in good shape. See you later, Lander. I hope that Haile will beat Makau but unfortunately Makau is born as a marathon runner and gifted with a superstrong last 2 km. So my pick for tomorrow is that Patrick Makau wins the Berlin marathon in 2h 04'54".
But I will cheer the most for Bart Verschoren, Kris Meganck, Bart Degieter, Didier Deveirman and Luc Molemans to run a marathon PB. Greetings from Asse, Lander. This week the training volume and intensity went through the ceiling. There’s no time left to play, when I want to run a fast marathon in Eindhoven.
On wednesday I already did a good track training (short intervals) in Aalst with Vital. For tomorrow the coach gave me the assignment to run 36 km continuous acceleration. To conclude I would like to wish all the best to the athletes that will run the marathon of Berlin upcoming Sunday. It’s possible to follow this race live on Eurosport and on BBC. Greetings Lander This time was good for a 21th place in a world class field. To be honest I am pleased with this result regarding the fever days of last week . I started the race to quick together with Abdi Bashir and Benjamin Barbier, we all payed afterwards for our desire to run a sharp time. Teammate Florent Caelen was the first Belgian finisher. I came in as second, Stijn Fincioen third, Stefan Van den Broek fourth and Abdi Bashir fifth. The dutch runner Patrick Stitzinger came in as 10th overall and first european athlete in a superb 47'44". But the king of the day was the Kenyan Leonard Patrick Komon by missing the world record with only 4 seconds. This was my last race for the marathon of Eindhoven. My split times were: 5 kilometer 14:50 (14:50) 10 kilometer 30:29 (15:39) 15 kilometer 46:08 (15:39) Below the pictures: taken by the coach and Florent Caelen. Inspiration: Galen Rupp = the white Kenyan = new American record Pictures of the memorial van Damme: Special thanks to Adidas (Marcel and Belinda) for the great seats. The assignment from our coach Salavarda was 6 times 1200 meters on the track, in order to get some rhytm in our legs. The times: 3’28”; 3’29”; 3’26”; 3’26” ; 3’27” ; 3’27”. We always passed the 1 km mark in 2'52". I did not feel good at all but no problem tomorrow there is a new day. Arriverderci Lander. Below pictures of the training by Eva Sammels. We will train on the track in Aalst at 18 h 30. On the menu repetitions of 1200 meters. The uncensored times will be published afterwards. Greetings Lander |
